Preparation for Diagnostic Examinations In order to provide you with the best possible care, we ask that you please do the following on your first visit:
To save time, you may download these forms, fill them out at home and bring them to the office. Click here to obtain the forms.
MRINo preparation is necessary. Please do not wear jewelry. Wear loose comfortable clothing without zippers, buckles, metallic buttons or other metal fasteners. MRI's can not be performed on patients with a pacemaker, defibrillator, or neurostimulator.
CT ScanSinus, spine, hip and all extremities: no preparation necessary. Head and chest: clear liquids only for 3 hours prior to the exam. Abdomen and pelvis: pick up contrast fluid at our office at least 24 hours before the exam. Eat a light dinner the evening before the exam. Clear liquids are permitted until the exam. Colostomy patients please call 516-766-1700 for special instructions.

GI Series & Small Bowel SeriesNothing to eat or drink after midnight the day before the exam. Continue nothing by mouth on day of exam. No medications (pills) day of the exam unless otherwise authorized by our radiologists.
MyelogramCall our office for instructions.
Ultrasound / SonogramsAbdominal sonogram: nothing to eat or drink six (6) hours prior to exam. Pelvic Sonogram: drink four (4) 8 oz. glasses of liquid one (1) hour prior to exam. Do not empty bladder. Renal Artery sonogram: Clear liquids only day before and day of exam. All other sonograms: no preparation necessary.
Bone DensitometryNo calcium pills day of exam. No nuclear medicine studies or contrast studies day before exam.
