The
diagnostic practice of Drucker, Genuth, &Augenstaln, MDs,
P.C., Cross Bay Open Imaging, MD's, P.C., & South Shore OPEN
MRI has served Long Island and Queens for the past decade with a
combination of technology, compassion, and expertise. The MRI
practice Cross Bay Open Imaging, M.D. & P.C. at 156-36A Cross
Bay Boulevard, Howard Beach, NY has been awarded an
accreditation in MRI as a result of a recent survey by the
American College of Radiology (ACR). The American College of
Radiology is a national organization servicing more than 30,000
radiologists, radiation oncologists, and medical physicists,
with programs focusing on the practice of radiology and the
delivery of comprehensive health services. The ACR Committee on
MRI Accreditation evaluates and accredits MRI practices in
hospitals and in Private offices across the United States. The
ACR awards accreditation to an MRI practice for the achievement
of high practice standards after a voluntary evaluation of its
practice. Evaluations are conducted by radiologists and
physicists who are members of the ACR with special expertise in
MRI. They assess the quality of the work being performed as welt
as the qualifications of the personnel involved. The reviewers
report their findings to the ACR's MRI Accreditation Committee
which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive
report.
Drucker,
Genuth, & Augenstein MDs, P.C., has earned a reputation among the
medical community as a successful private MRI provider. Without
x-rays, without surgery, without pain, MRI can reveal the
presence of many problems. MRI produces images by using a
magnetic field thereby eliminating exposure to radiation. During
the exam, the technologist transmits a series of radio waves
into the magnet. Images are then created on a computer screen.
When the exam is completed, images are transferred from the
computer to a sheet of film which looks similar to an x-ray. Our
MRI is a General Electric 1.5 Tesla superconducting magnet. This
high field strength magnet produces images that are sharp and
clear. We also have a Hitachi 7000 OPEN MRI scanner. Hitachi's
innovative MRI system is designed to eliminate claustrophobia,
while facilitating fast and accurate studies. The system
operates very quietly and permits patients to talk to a
technologist at any time during the exam. Because the scanner is
shorter in length, a patient's head is usually not inside the
magnet for scans involving the lumbar spine and lower part of
the body. Stereo headphones are available during exams.
Listening to music helps patients scanned in our magnet rarely
require sedation. Because our magnet provides ample room for the
largest individuals, we can easily accommodate patients who
weigh up to 450 pounds.
"It's
not just a matter of having state-of-the-art equipment,"
says Jeffrey P. Drucker, M.D., the company's founder.
"Patients want to be treated with compassion and
dignity, and their physicians
want to know they can rely upon the accuracy of the
radiologists' reports." Dr. Drucker completed his
fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania and Thomas
Jefferson University. Solomon N. Genuth, M.D. trained at Mt.
Sinai Hospital in New York and completed his fellowship training
in abdominal imaging and MRI at Temple University in
Pennsylvania. Harold M. Augenstein, M.D. completed a full two
year fellowship in neuroradiology at Yale University and is a
senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology. Cross
Bay OPEN imaging, MD's, P.C. is most proud of having John
Himelfarb, M.D. as their radiologist. Dr. Himelfarb
graduated Magna. cum laud. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
in 1980, S.U.N.Y. at Downstate School of Medicine (MD 1984,
internal Medicine 1985), St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Columbia
University Collage of Physicians & Surgeons (Diagnostic
Radiology 1989), New England Medical Center Tufts University
(Fellowship: CTIMRI/US 1990).
The
practices of Drucker, Genuth, & Augenstein have three
facilities on Long Island & Queens. They are accredited by
the American College of Radiology. In addition to one of the
industry's most sophisticated MRI scanners they also offer
Spiral CAT scan technology, Columbia Scientific Sim/Plant
Presurgical Planning Denta-Scan studies, ultrasound, and general
radiology services. We are pleased to announce the latest in
advanced technology, the LUNAR Bone Donsitometry-DEXA machine.
This quick, non-invasive diagnostic procedure allows for
immediate diagnosis of Osteoporosis. The entire examination for
both the femur and the spine requires about 10 minutes,
including analysis and printing. This report will provide the
physician with information necessary for treatment and/or
prevention of bone loss. We are now taking appointments for bone
densitometry. Besides our usual business hours, we are now open
weeknights, Saturdays, and have 8:30 AM appointments available.
