Our state-of-the-art CT Scan 3D, is an x-ray procedure enhanced by a
computer. A spiral CT Scan produces a series of images (called
"slices") of a particular part of the body.
Aided by the computer, a CT scan is
able to put together the different "slices" and create a
three-dimensional view, clearly showing both bone and surrounding
organs.
Sometimes
a contrast medium is administered to highlight various body parts.
The
exam usually takes only a few minutes. This allows for
preparation as well as time for the computer to generate the image. Time may vary significantly
depending on the nature of the study and other factors.
The radiologist will study your exam and
forward the results to your doctor.
Do not eat or drink anything for
three (3)
hours prior to your CT with contrast examination except for oral contrast
(if given for the exam).
No preparation required prior to your CT
without contrast examination.
